The complex physical decongestion therapy consists of 2 phases that build on each other. An intensive decongestion phase forms the basis for the success of the long-term maintenance Phase.

The decongestion phase includes repeated manual lymphatic drainage in combination with permanent compression therapy (bandaging or medical adaptive compression systems), exercise therapy and skin care. Its aim is to loosen hardening, drain the edema fluid and thus reduce the size of the affected body region.

In the maintenance phase, the frequency of manual lymphatic drainage is reduced. To maintain the success of the therapy, flat-knitted compression clothing is used over the long term, which, thanks to its knitted properties, enables increased working pressure and a massage effect. Exercise therapy and skin care will continue in this phase.
