peroneal tendon dislocation

Peroneal tendon dislocation is the painful snapping of the peroneal tendons out of their natural groove behind the outer ankle bone. It is usually triggered by violently twisting the foot or by a sports injury that causes the stabilizing ligament (retinaculum) to tear. Typical symptoms include snapping sounds, pain, and a sensation of instability in the ankle.
