drop foot

Foot drop (also known as dorsiflexor weakness) is a paralysis or weakness of the muscles that lift the foot and toes. Affected individuals are unable to properly pull their foot upward. When walking, the tip of the foot drags along the ground. To prevent this, those affected often adopt an exaggerated, high-stepping gait.
