Subacromial bursitis

Subacromial bursitis is a painful inflammation of the bursa located beneath the acromion (the roof of the shoulder). It causes stabbing pain when lifting or abducting the arm - particularly during overhead movements - as well as pain at rest and at night when lying on the affected side. It is usually triggered by overuse, impingement syndrome, or calcium deposits.
