Subachilleal bursitis
Subachilless bursitis (also known as retrocalcaneal bursitis) is a painful inflammation of the bursa located directly between the Achilles tendon and the heel bone. Typical symptoms include tenderness to pressure, redness, and swelling at the heel, as well as sharp pain when putting weight on the foot or walking. Common causes include overuse during sports, overly tight shoes, or a bony prominence on the heel (Haglund's deformity).
