golfer's elbow
In the golf elbow (epicondylitis ulnaris humeri, epicondylitis medialis humeri), the muscle attachments on the inner side of the elbow are inflamed or damaged. The cause of this is usually a constantly recurring strain on the hand and elbow flexor muscles. This is the case, for example, when playing golf, from where the illness got its name. However, the golfer's elbow is significantly more often caused by overloads in everyday life or at work. Typical symptoms are pain and restricted movement, which however only need to be treated surgically in one out of ten cases.
