Care Instructions

Indications
Chronic venous diseases: Improvement of venous symptoms; improvement of quality of life in chronic venous diseases; Prevention and treatment of venous edema and venous skin changes; eczema and pigmentation; dermatoliposclerosis and atrophie blanche; ulcer prevention, ulcer therapy and pain reduction in venous leg ulcers; varicose veins; initial phase after varicose vein therapy; functional venous insufficiency; venous malformations. Thrombotic venous diseases: superficial vein thrombosis; deep vein thrombosis; condition after thrombosis; post-thrombotic syndrome; thrombosis prophylaxis in mobile patients. Edema: lymphedema; edema during pregnancy; occupational edema; drug-induced edema; post-traumatic and post-operative edema; post-operative reperfusion edema; cyclic idiopathic edema; lipedema up to stage II; congestion due to immobility. Other indications: obesity with functional venous insufficiency; Inflammatory dermatoses of the legs; nausea, dizziness, and congestive pain during pregnancy; post-burn conditions; scar treatment
Contraindications
Medical compression stockings should not be worn in the following cases:
Advanced peripheral arterial occlusive disease (APPI < 0.6, ankle artery pressure < 60 mmHg, toe pressure < 30 mmHg, or TcPO2 < 20 mmHg on the instep).
Severe heart failure (NYHA (III)–IV)
Septic phlebitis
Phlegmasia cerulea dolens
Compression of an existing arterial bypass (epifascial)
Relative contraindications where the benefit and risk must be carefully considered:
Allergy to the material of the compression product
Inflammatory processes (compression products to reduce inflammation, pain, or edema in leg erysipelas or cellulitis may only be used in combination with antibacterial therapy)
PAD with an ABPI between 0.6 and 0.9 and/or ankle pressure between 60 and 90 mmHg
Severe weeping dermatoses
Severe sensory disturbances of the extremities
Advanced peripheral neuropathy (e.g., in diabetes mellitus)
Primary chronic polyarthritis
