capsule strain

A joint capsule strain is an overstretching of the protective connective-tissue joint capsule, usually caused by twisting, falls, or a violent impact (such as a ball striking a finger). Typical consequences include immediate pain, swelling, restricted movement, and sometimes bruising around the affected joint.
